This Is Going To Be A Mess

deliberate-human:

Hello internet,

My name is Maria and I’m already stuck on how to write this introduction. I’m creating this blog as a means for me to write about my experience/struggles/journey in veganism and minimalism. I know what you’re thinking- “Yay, just what the world needs- another millenial talking about their profound world views.” I know that there are thousands of these types of blogs out there, but, as my parents always told me, I’m special.

I’m kidding. But not really. This blog is going to be awesome. I hope. I think.

Ok, I’m getting off track. So I have been vegan for 11 months now and it has been the most rewarding life change I have ever made. I know 11 months isn’t very long and I still have a lot to learn, but I have already learned so much that I can’t wait to share. I want to spread my knowledge, experience and, most importantly, recipes and encourage any- and everybody to join the vegan lifestyle. (I fully live my veganism as a lifestyle but can we please acknowledge how pretentious that sounds- “oh, this is just my alternative lifestyle.” No? Just me?) Okay, moving on.

My journey in minimalism is short so far and has proved itself to be quite a challenging feat. I watched one of the Minimalists’ TedTalks and boy, I was intrigued. A few months later I stumbled across their documentary “Minimalism” on Netflix. That movie triggered the beginning of my journey. If you’re not familiar with the Minimalists or what minimalism even is and you have an hour and eighteen minutes to spare, go watch their documentary; it’ll turn your head upside down. That’s how I have been feeling ever since as I’m grappling with the realization that all of my likes and dislikes are rooted in capitalism and lies companies have told me as a money-making scheme. That was a mouthful, but a sad reality. Yeah, so trying to live a minimalism life has been a really emotional shitshow. It has also brought to light that the same struggles I have with throwing out materialistic items is parallel to my mental health and eating disorder issues. *Cue Baby Boomers talking about how entitled and good us millenials have it and we should stop whining.*

If you can’t already tell this blog is going to be fun and honest and kind of a mess- just like me! If you find my content at all entertaining I hope you will follow and interact with me on here. There’s not a lot of things in life I’m good at but one thing I am a the best at is talking too much so humor me and let’s be friends.

Stay awesome!
